Criminal Records Policy

If an applicant is chosen for a home, a criminal background check will be pulled within 90-days prior to closing on the home for all adults who will be on the title of the home. Common Ground reserves the rights for the following actions based upon the results of the background check(s):

  • Any applicant who is a registered sex offender will be ineligible for homeownership.

  • Further review for a felony conviction, guilty plea or no contest plea for the following offenses:

    • Arson

    • Death

    • Rape, sex crimes and/or child sex crime

    • Serious injury

    • Kidnapping

    • Crimes against children

    • Class A felony burglary or robbery

    • Manufacturing of a controlled substance Any other felony where the date of disposition, release or parole occurred within the last 5-years
